Best New Jobs Blogs and Resources in 2020

Starting a new job can be nervewrecking. You’re going to be bombarded with firsts — first day, first impression, first performance review, and the list goes on. While every job and company will be different there are universal truths that can guide you through the transition. Here’s our list of the best resource and blogs for starting new jobs.

Penelope Trunk, co-founder of Brazen Careerist, has been touted the queen of unhindered commentary—her personal blog’s tagline is “advice at the intersection of work and life,” and she pretty much covers it all. Trunk is smart, brutally honest, transparent, and a little bit nuts—and she can be very controversial (her blog posts range from “Don’t Do What You Love” to “Choose Sex Over Money”).

While it’s not a flashy site, SimplyHired (similar to CareerBuilder) provides some excellent job seeking gems you’ll want to know about. Averaging about a post a day, this is a great resource for more in-depth articles and topics.

Lots of job seekers peruse CareerBuilder for jobs but did you know they have an awesome blog as well? With categories such as ‘find the job’ and ‘get the job’ you can rely on these experts for consistent content.

This award-winning blog (named one of Forbes’ Top 100 Websites for Women this year) is a fashion and lifestyle resource for “overachieving chicks.” The site was born after its founder recognized that young professional women in demanding careers needed somewhere to go—other than fashion magazines—for wardrobe advice they could actually use.

It’s got a great design and feels very contemporary, with a good mix of articles that include tips on both getting a job, and being successful once you’re in a job. Covers a wide range of careers, including freelancing, and there are plenty of practical and innovative suggestions for getting the job you want.
